My understanding based on the things I read for this is that their usual video director Russell Mulcahy was filming his first movie, Razorback, so he couldn't direct this, and the band didn't really get on with the guy who did, Brian Grant. I did notice that this wasn't nearly as well shot as their earlier videos, and that explains a lot.

Fun fact I just learned: the soundtrack for Razorback, which I've never seen but remember passing over in countless video stores, was written by Iva Davies of Icehouse.
